Thoughts About the Book . . .

I hope you are enjoying the book. We are learning such rich vocabulary. Didn't you just LOVE the comparison between Stella, Ivan,
and Bob like a mountain, rock, and grain of sand. There is so much in The One and Only Ivan such as that which lend for great discussion. I'm already thinking I may have to move to the 6 week reading plan as opposed to the 5 week plan. Remember to tweet!

And We're Off . . .

It's been great seeing tweets and predictions on Padlet! There are almost 40 classes that have signed up to participate, and more that haven't filled out form. Wow, what a great group. Reach out to classes to collaborate using the participant form or thru twitter. Remember, TWEET. Here are some classes in action!

Woohoo . . .

Are you excited?!?! It's almost time to get this party started! I am adding a link here for a suggested reading schedule. I made a 5 week schedule as well as a 6 week schedule for you to choose from. Of course, you may read at your own pace. The schedule just helps for those that will be collaborating with others.

The book may be purchased on a Kindle app as well. I really
One of Ivan's paintings
like reading mine on my ipad and airplaying it on my smartboard. Another option is opening Kindle app in cloud reader on computer and reading from smartboard. That way you can highlight vocabulary, key details (always thinking about those written responses), etc. I know everyone doesn't have these options, just thought I would share.

Only 5 More Days . . .

1Book, 1World here we come! I am adding a link to the tabs so that you can check out those that are participating! Feel free to start working on finding someone to collaborate with. I do know of a few teachers that have yet to sign up. The list may continue to grow. Some of you may choose to connect with just one class, while some may try to connect with several. It's up to you! Tools that are great for connecting are Twitter, Skype, Edmodo, Today's Meet to name a few. When working on a global project, hopefully you'll make connections that will be long lasting (right Andrew, Trish?). Remember, throughout the book club . . . TWEET! That way we'll all be connecting!

I will also be adding a recommended reading schedule. The schedule is to be used loosely, but it's easier when connecting with others, tweeting, etc. when we are all around the same spot in the book. Look for that tab later today or tomorrow.

Time . . . when do we have enough time to do these things?
Student project from last year after
reading this book.
Remember, put in a little or a lot. Do what works for you! You already do a lot of this stuff, don't feel like you need to carve out a lot of time in your schedule.

Another link, I'll add a google doc that we can all add to. As much as I love Edmodo, and I will be using it, a link on this site to a google doc will be convenient. As we make Kahoots and other activities that we use throughout the project, we can just add them to the google doc to share!

Feel free to contact me with any questions, or just tweet! Begin to check blog daily, I'll be updating regularly.
